Blå kinesiska miniatyrer från 1735-1795.
Nyckelord: Föremålsbild, Porslin
Description
Svenska: KAMINGARNITYR (miniatyr-).
English: Miniature porcelain garniture with powder blue glaze. Kangxi period (1662-1722), c.1685-1700.H of jars: 7.8 – 8cm, H of vases: 5.9 and 6.1cm. The cobalt blue glaze was blown onto the surface through a bamboo tube covered with gauze, giving a slightly mottled effect. After the pieces had been fired they were painted in gold over the glaze with floral designs, most of which have rubbed off. This miniature group copies a much larger set, that could have formed part of a wu gong five-piece altar set, with an incense burner added in the centre. Such vessels were also exported, and employed as garnitures in Western homes. In the 17th century miniatures were popular in Europe, where they were placed in elaborate niche arrangements on walls and above fireplaces. Women ordered miniature porcelain vessels to put in their dolls’ houses.
