Summary
[edit]DescriptionBollitree Castle - geograph.org.uk - 487246.jpg |
English: Bollitree Castle, near to Weston Under Penyard, Herefordshire, Great Britain.
A mock 15th century castle was built in the 18th century by one of the Merrick family for the love of a Spanish girl who would not live in "wet and draughty old England". It didn't work - he still died a bachelor. Bollitree Castle is privately owned and not generally open to visitors, but it is still interesting to view from the road and has the occasional open day. |
