Summary
[edit]DescriptionBotany Bay, A1005 Ridgeway and Low Emission Zone entry - geograph.org.uk - 709612.jpg |
English: Botany Bay: A1005 Ridgeway & Low Emission Zone entry London's Low Emission Zone (LEZ), managed by Transport for London (TfL) and enforced with surveillance cameras, became effective for lorries, motor caravans, and horseboxes exceeding 12 tonnes in weight from 4 February 2008. Unless a vehicle in this category reaches the Euro III emissions standard, or can claim exemption, the charge is £200 per day with a penalty charge of £1,500 if the payment is not paid within 28 days. Vehicles first registered as new with the DVLA on or after 1 October 2001 are assumed to meet the Euro III standard, so they would meet the LEZ emissions standards. More information is on the TfL site here http://www.tfl.gov.uk/roadusers/lez/default.aspx
This is the entry point into the LEZ on the A1005 Ridgeway at its junction with East Lodge. The sign on the lamppost to the right is less than helpful, with its "this way to the zone, lads!" attitude appearing to encourage drivers into the zone, when it should be couched in terms of instructing drivers how to avoid it... |
