6 JUILLET 1946 : Ouverture de la Conférence franco-vietnamienne de Fontainebleau. La délégation française comprend notamment le général Salan et l'amiral Barjot et est présidée par Max André. Celle du Viêt-Nam comprend essentiellement Phan Van Dong.

La France «essaie de reprendre une par une les concessions de l'accord du 6 mars». Le Viêt-Nam ne pourra être indépendant que dans un cadre français.

7 JUILLET 1946 :
