| Description |
English: Bracken on Carningli Much of the lower slopes of the mountain in this area known as Carningli Common has a dense covering of bracken which restricts grazing and diminishes biodiversity. The traditional method of controlling it was by cutting and using it as animal bedding when dry. In 2007 the graziers proposed spraying Asulox herbicide from the air, which outraged local people many of whom get their water supply from mountain streams, as well as wishing to protect its pristine nature. A petition signed by over 1000 (not all local) put a stop to the plan but the problem remains unresolved.
