Summary
[edit]DescriptionBreydon Bridge from the mouth of the Bure - geograph.org.uk - 260571.jpg |
English: Breydon Bridge from the mouth of the Bure Taken while stuck on a mud bank, waiting for the tide to change. The sign warns people coming down the Bure (from the right in this photo) to pass the yellow post before turning towards the bridge, so as not to become grounded. Hire boats may not turn left, which is towards the docks and eventually the sea; I was crewing a wherry which had been on display at the docks during the maritime festival.
Due to a quirk of geography/hydrology, the tide still flows out of the Bure after it has turned on the Yare - somehow the Bure water flows out to sea below a higher layer of incoming water on the Yare. |
