Summary
[edit]DescriptionBridgend, Warwick - geograph.org.uk - 1250754.jpg |
English: Bridgend, Warwick Before the remodelling of Warwick Castle Park in the 18th century, this was the main road from Southam to Warwick. The old road from Banbury comes in from the left. The roads converged on the mediaeval bridge, 'ruined' by the Earl to form a picturesque feature in views of the castle - there are several images of it in this square. Bypassed by the realigned Banbury Road, Bridgend has become a secluded upmarket suburb, half older properties, half fairly well-mannered modern development (visible, left). Despite its selling points - views of the castle, riverside gardens - Bridgend is not without disadvantages. It's liable to flood, parking is a hassle, and there aren't any shops. |
