English: Bridleway to St Andrew's church. This public bridleway - it is called Home Piece Road - turns off The Street in Claxton, leading in westerly direction and emerging on Church Lane by St Andrew's > 1329931 churchyard > 1330002. The track marks the route of the 1928 extension of a narrow gauge railway which between 1926 and 1936 ran the 1.6 kilometres from Claxton Manor Farm > 1330137 to the south bank of the River Yare > 1552521 - in 1928 it was extended south to Staines Barn > 1534741 just east of the church. The railway transported sugar beet which were loaded onto wherries and transported to the Cantley sugar factory > 1467475 which is situated several kilometres to the north-east. |
