lender, excepting the hinder, whichare long and stout : coxae, jjosterior long, their thighs thick in bothsexes: tibiae spurred, hinder long and clavate : tarsi long, simple,and 5-jointed, basal joint long, 41 h the smallest: claws a7id pulvilliminute. Calcitrator Grav.— Curt. Guide, Gen. 535. No. 150. Black, shining; antennae brown, yellow beneath ; apex of thepetiole, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th segments rufous, the 2nd generallywith a brown patch on the back, the remaining segments edgedwith white : nervures and stigma brown : legs brown, 4 ante-rior ochreous, except on the outside; hinder tibiae sometimesinclining to reddish-brown, especially at the base: expanse6-^ lines.Not an uncommon insect. I have taken the female at CoombWood and in the Isle of Wight the middle of June, and malesat Darent and Dover the end of July. Mr. Shuckard findsboth sexes on umbellate flowers in Battersea Fields. The Plant is Scandix (Myrrhis Scop.) odorata, Sweet Cicelyfound at Knaresborough by J. Walton, Esq.

Antennce nearly as long as the body in the males, filiform, rugoseand very pubescent beneath, composed of about 26 joints j basaljoint robust, 2nd minute, 3rd long, 4th longer, the remaindergradually decreasing- in length to the end, the apical joint elon-gate-conic (l(?): shorter in the female, pubescent, slightlythickened and curved at the apex j composed of many joints,basal one subglobose, 2nd minute, 3rd and 5 succeeding long,5 following shorter, the remainder more or less cup-shaped,several producing slender spines nearly at right angles, terminaljoint long and conical (1 9)- Labrum transverse-oval, the basal angles produced; a fleshy lobeprojecting from beneath, semicircular and densely pilose (2).Mandibles short, subtrigonate, very broad at the base, internallyconcave with a fascicle of hair on each side towards
