English: Site of Brownhills (Watling Street) Station. View NE, buffer-stops would [probably] have been ahead to left; terminus of ex-Midland branch from Aldridge, which was closed to passengers on 31/3/30 but remained open for goods until 3/9/62 - just after this photograph. Since 1985 the Heritage Chasewater Railway has operated northward from near here ('Brownhills West') a mile or two along the track of a former colliery line. [But I'm not sure about details of the precise topographical location of my photograph, as I've not been there. Can anyone put me right?] |
