Celui-ci établissait au niveau de la rue Royale une petite terrasse surlaquelle il érigeait, entre deux fontaines, une statue équestre du roi Guillaume.Celui-là transformait les Bas-fonds en un immense amphithéâtre propre à servirtour à tour de cirque, de gymnase, de local pour concours de musique et pour lesexercices de la schutterij (1). » Le concours de 1828 namena pas de résultat. Le Collège chargea alors larchitectede la ville (19 mars i83o) de lui soumettre le croquis « dune place entourée de (1) Voir le rapport de M.
