Bien que lautorité eût pris laprécaution de leur faire quitter la ville par diverses portes, et quils fussent escortéschacun par un fort détachement de soldats de justice, ils ne purent traverser lesrues que lentement. Partout les bourgeois se pressaient sur leur passage pour lessaluer, les bénir, leur serrer la main et les embrasser
