Irises, or fleur-de-lis, form an important group of brilliant colored flowers whichalmost eaual orchids in beauty, richness and variety of color. They have thick clumps oflong, narrow, equitant foliage. They are very ornamental and the showy flowers prove excellent forcutting purposes. The German Iris is the best known. It is fine for planting among rocks or willthrive well in damp, marshy places. Is excellent for cut flowers. The Spanish Irises have been in cultivation for many years, and the beautiful ornamentalflowers vary in color from white to brown, yellow, violet, blue and purple, together with marvelouscombinations that are well nigh indescribable. This iris is very easily grown in half-shaded situa-tions, and the flowers are valuable for cutting. A great favorite with florists. The Japanese Iris was cultivated by the Japanese for many centuries and the great, handsomeblossoms are wide and flat.
