Für todesmutigen Einsatz auf Kreta mit dem Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes ausgezeichnet.
Der Führer und Oberste Befehlshaber der Wehrmacht zeichnete mit dem Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuz folgende Offiziere der Fallschirmtruppen aus:
Oberleutnant von Roon (oben links)
Oberleutnant Herrmann (oben rechts)
Oberleutnant Egger (unten links)
Oberleutnant Barmetler (unten rechts)
