English: Burton Bradstock: Othona Community chapel The Othona Community is a Christian-based organisation, originally begun in Bradwell-on-Sea, Essex, as an experiment in Christian community, in 1946.
Its centre here in Burton Bradstock was opened in 1965. Visitors, welcomed from any faith or from none, can stay for a weekend to a week to experience "creativity, relaxation, contemplation, learning, fun - all part of the Othona experience" on the way to the community's Mission Statement to ultimately "encourage one another in caring for the world and its people." More information will be found on the community's website, http://www.othona-bb.org.uk , from which much of the above description was taken. Here we see the on-site chapel. |
