Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Butterley Gangroad bridge The bridge carries the former Butterley Gangroad over Drovers Way. The Gangroad was built in 1795 to bring lime from quarries near Crich to the Cromford Canal where it would be shipped on to the Butterley Company's ironworks at Butterley. Note how the Gangroad is carried on a stone-faced causeway rather than a normal earth embankment. The bridge itself is difficult to photograph in these light conditions, and appears to be constructed with cast iron beams and cast iron plates. It may not date from the construction of the line which had various rebuilds.
