Summary
[edit]DescriptionCadbury Castle from Parrock Hill - geograph.org.uk - 486359.jpg |
English: Cadbury Castle from Parrock Hill Despite appearances and its name, Cadbury Castle is not a chocolate mountain. These days getting to it is easy on the A303 twix London and Exeter. But for earlier travellers, especially the late arrivals after eight, getting there was a marathon. Over the years there has been a galaxy of visitors. Today they come from all over the world and you can hear the French school children say that the climb to the top is such 'ard work.
In this picture, taken from Parrock Hill to the south, you can also see the village of Sutton Montis where it nestles below the castle. Nothing here mars this excellent viewpoint. The castle is one of the sites rumoured to be King Arthur's Camelot, but that's another topic. |
