Hattisburg MS Mardi Gras - Caerus parade

Description
English: In the weeks before Ash Wednesday, localities under the cultural influence of New Orleans and Mobile celebrate Mardi Gras, "Fat Tuesday," comparable to other cultures' Carnival or масленица.

Hattiesburg named its parade for Caerus, a Greek god of luck, and schedules the parade several weeks Mardi Gras, in order to attract (or keep) tourists (and their money) who would otherwise visit long-established celebrations along the Gulf Coast.

Here you see residents and/or visitors dressed up in New Orleans' traditional Mardi Gras colors (green, purple, and yellow) and line Hardy Street as floats pass by, tossing goodies.
