Summary
[edit]DescriptionCaiplie Caves - geograph.org.uk - 1195469.jpg |
English: Caiplie Caves Weathered and eroded over the millennia by the action of wind and tide, this chunk of red sandstone now stands isolated. Medieval chronicles associate Caplie with St. Adrian (or St. Ethernan) who was killed on the Isle of May in 875 by Viking raiders. Christian crosses carved into the wall of Chapel Cave give credence to the theory that this was a shrine to the martyred saint. |
