Carrollton Gardens, New Orleans, Rand McNally engraving

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Carrollton Gardens, New Orleans, Rand McNally engraving

Caption "CARROLLTON GARDENS, NEAR NEW ORLEANS".

Notes: This was around the old Carrollton Hotel on the river side of St. Charles Avenue near the intersection of Carrollton Avenue in the New Orleans Riverbend. The town of Carrollton was annexed to New Orleans in 1874, so the "near New Orleans" may indicate it is reusing an older engraving, or it may just be imprecise caption.

Date (publication)
Source Engraving published in 1885 on page 48, A Guide to New Orleans and the Principal Cities in the South, including St.Louis,Cairo, Memphis,[etc.]. via [1]
Author signature at bottom right looks like "T SEARS" (?)
