Schmidt & Botley, Florists, Springfield, Ohio. 17 OUR CHALLENGE COLLECTION (continued.) A maenificent variety for exhibition or commercial purposes. It is of enor- mous proportions, measuring eleven inches across the flower. The center is incurving, outer petals very long and drooping. Color white, beau- tifully tinged and fienciled withpink t is a magnificent variety and is probably the larg- est flowering C h r y santhemum grown. MAD. BERGMAN. A grand new Chinese variety of dwarf habit, very full in growth, and with large, dark-green foliage The flowers are large and globu- lar, with reflexed petals. Color pure white, center shaded with light yellow. Especially valuable because it is the earliest of all the large flowering sorts. PROUESSE. Dark amaranth, very large; fine for exhibition. Color creamy-white, heavily banded and pen- ciled in carmine-pink; petals veiy thick, broad and flat, with nicely rounded tips; flat or slightly re- flexed, central petals upright, perfectly double, large and of fixie form. A superb clear rose-pink; petals thick and heavy, cup-shaped, soHd to the center; immense in size; habit the best: stems stiff and erect, covered with luxuriant foliage. MME. CHARLES MOLIN. — This is termed in Europe the White Vivian Morel. We had this variety 11 inches across; color pure white, sturdy grower; an unequalled exhibition variety. MRS. MARIA SIMPSON.—Color soft chr^me-yeUow. A fine example of the broad petal, incurving Japanese type, showing no center ; very large, fine grower, stiff stems. Silver medal at Philadelphia; certificate at Indianapohs. VIOLET ROSE.—Of very silky texture, petals long and straight, a fine grower; flower of extra large size ^nd fine color: a fine keeper when cut. The color of this fine, new variety, as the name indicates, is a beautiful violet rose. A superb flower. JUDGE HOITT.—The greatest break in seeding of recent years; an Anemone fully eight inches across; color pale pearl- pink ; the outer petals are broad and incurving. KIOTO.—Incurved Japanese variety. No engraving can do justice to this unique and beautiful variety. The color is deep yellow, with a peculiar waxy lustre; petals incurved and twisted; a free bloomer. A first-class certificate, Boston and New York. ANNA DORNER.—A fine, full, bold flower, with outer petals striped and shaded deep carmine; center a rich creamy- white, well built up, with petals sometimes twisted; a good keeper. JESSICA.—For general purposes as a cut flower, and as a show variety, it is one of the finest; the earliest large white, blooming early in October; flowers average six inches in dia'tneter. MINERVA.—An exceedingly attractive, bold, massive flower,very large, incurved, the outer petals drooping, forming almost a perfect flower of the most vivid clear yellow, with extra good stem and fine handsome fohage within four inches of the flower. Certificates of merit at New York and Phila- delphia shows. Price, 15 cents each. Charles A. Jessup. Incurved Japanese, petals long and closely incurving. A exanq globular golden yel- low. Fine for exhi- bition.

Cullingfordii. BriUiant crimson, shaded scarlet, flowers of a rich velvety texture^ One of the brightest and most dis- tinct of all the dark colored sorts > petals finely reflexed.. IVEI^^ DAIU'lSIiOVI. (The Pink Ivory.) An immense in- curved variety. Clear bright pink, fijse rounded form of great depth, with deep, strong foliage. The grandest of the extra early clear pink varieties. GRETCHEN BUETTNER.—This variet:^ has broad, waxv pet- als of purest white, only center petals show a beautiful pea- green before fiower is quite developed. It is quite distinct from any existing sort in this stage. It turns all white when fully open and is full to center. RIDER HAGGARD.—The largest Chrysanthemum we have yet seen. Guard petals pink, long and drooping; immense, deep, rounded disc of deep rose, and with amber shadings. MADEMOISELLE LEA LEVEQUE.—One of the finest of the incurving pink section, very large, deep and full, a strong grower. Color an exquisite bright shade. MRS. JEROME JONES.—One of the latest sv,-ts; color deli- cate creamy white, sometimes tinged with light pink. Petals very broad, gracefully incurved. Very lasting after being cut. December 1st to 10th. MRS. E. G. HILL.—One of the earliest of all the large flow- ering sorts. Flowers very large, seven to eight inches across; full to the center. A granc' incurved sphere when fully ex- panded. Color delicate pearl-pink; extra fijie. MRS. G. J. BEER.—Immense Japanese bloom, full and deep, rosy-purple color, lighter center. For exhibition only. One of the largest flowered varieties extant. MAUDE DEAN.—An immense pink variety; fijiely incurved; getals broad, shell-shaped. One of the largest flowers ex- ibited in the fall shows. Almost a pure shell-pink. Received silver medal at Philadelphia, and awarded certificates of merit at New York and Pniladelphia. Price, 15 cents each. Niveus.—A grand, snow-white variety. Center irregularly incurving, witn outer petals reflexing nearly to the stem. Constitution robust, foliage large and abundant, while the keeping qualities of the fiowers are unsurpassed.
