English: Central St Agnes A picture postcard view, Grinlinton Farm House on the right.
The view is marred a little by the relatively new water storage tanks situated by the Island's main well. These have made life on the Island more comfortable reducing the water shortages during the summer. Visitors should still be very economical with water when on the Scillies though. The major increase of comfort on the off-islands in the last 50 years was the introduction of mains electricity in the mid-eighties. Before that, the chug of diesel generators starting-up at dusk was a feature of St Agnes. You could tell where you were on the island's road by the different sounds that each farm's generator had. The barn on the left here contained one of the most distinctive. |
