16 JOHN LEWIS CHILDS, INC., FLORAL PARK, N. Y. Sacred Lily, Imperial Chinese The greatest and most popular winter - blooming bulbs. Bulbs large andeach one sends up from five to twelve spikes, which bear clusters oflarge, perfect, waxy - white blossoms with yellow center, and a power-^ ful and delicate fragrance, which is not excelled by any flower. Theygrow well in pots of soil; but the most popularway of blooming them is the Chinese method, asfollows: Fill a bowl, or some similar vessel, withpebbles, in which place the bulb, setting it aboutone-half its depth, so that it will be held firmly;then fill in with water to the top of the pebbles, and place in a warm, sunny window. The bulbwill at once commence a rapid growth and bloomin three weeks. We advise planting this variety:it will be much better than the common Andcheaper one.
