Summary
[edit]DescriptionCille Choirille - geograph.org.uk - 1380620.jpg |
English: Cille Choirille History recounts that the 15th century Cameron chief, Ailean nan Creach (Allan of the Raids) built this church as penance for a life of violence and pillage - he is said to have made "32 expeditions into his enemy's country for the 32 years that he lived and 3 more for the three-quarters of a year that he was in his mother's womb". Over the centuries Cille Choirille suffered from neglect and fell into ruin, but with the aid of descendants of Lochaber emigrants from Nova Scotia, the church was restored and reopened in 1932. |
