Object history
Deutsch: Die spiegelbildgleich gegenüber angeordneten Kirchenbauten symbolisieren die beiden im Gemeindegebiet liegenden Pfarrsprengel als besonderes Charakteristikum dieser Landgemeinde. Die Entstehung der Rodungspfarre Gaspoltshofen ist zu Beginn des 12. Jahrhunderts anzunehmen (1165 erste urkundlich bekannte Erwähnung des Pfarrers von Gozpoldeshouen in einer Bestätigung des Bischofs von Passau für das Kloster Lambach), die Pfarre Altenhof wurde durch Hofdekret vom 6. März 1784 als Ausbruch aus der Pfarre Gaspoltshofen geschaffen. - Die Pfarrkirche von Gaspoltshofen in ihrer heutigen Gestalt (erbaut 1732-1735) ist ein Hauptwerk des Passauer Baumeisters Jakob Pawanger, die nach dem Brand des Jahres 1728 barokisierte Landkirche Altenhof bekam in den Jahren 1894-1896 anstelle des alten Dachreiters einen neuen Turm.
