Relation Between N and the Velocity of the Fleetrons.-The electron stream which was used in these experiments containedelectrons with very different velocities. Curve 15 shows the per-centage of electrons which had a given velocity when the acceleratingpotential difference was 6 volts. It will be seen that the maximumpoint on the curve is at 6.2 volts whereas, it should be at 6 voltsif the electrons leave the hot metal with zero velocity.
