Description Cover of the journal of the proceedings of the First Continental Congress. The chosen emblem shows a Liberty Column, supported by the Magna Carta below and hands and arms (representing the states) on the sides. The Latin motto Hanc tuemur, hac nitmur means "This we defend, this we lean upon".
