English: Montana Army National Guard Spc. Wayne Hard (right) listens to the instructions of fire fighting instructor Andrea Gilham while she explains the construction of a fire break during training at Fort Harrison near Helena, Mont. on Aug. 3, 2000. Montana Army and Air National Guard troops are receiving two days of fire fighting and safety training to prepare them to tackle raging wild fires throughout their state. Over 400 Montana National Guard men and women are currently on state-active duty helping fight wildfires in the worst fire season since 1988. Hard is a medic with the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 163rd Mechanized Infantry, Boseman, Montana. Browning is a forester with the U.S. Department of Indian Affairs, Blackfeet Agency. |
