teau where we had a service on Sunday, but organizedno church. We then drove back to Helena by way of Florenceand the Sun River. On this journey we were lost one nightnear Florence and spent the whole night on the prairie, Lin-nell in the buggy and T on a pile of poles, without food ordrink, and tormented by mosquitoes. Poor fellow! he suffer-ed sometimes terrible agony during the journey, especiallyafter eating, or drinking cold water. I had sometimesto stop the buggy on the prairie and he would get out andliterally roll on the ground, doubled up with the intensepain. Wlien we reached Helena, the doctor informed me thatLinnell was sut¥ering with cancer of the stomach. I thinkhe did not tell Linnell so plainly his opinion. From Helenahe went to Bozeman, intending, I think, to actively continuehis work. He never got any further, but died shortly after-wards at Stevensons parsonage, two weeks after our return.So that the organization of the Great Falls church was hislast official work.

The First Presb^iierian Church of Boulder is entitled toa place among the pioneer churches of Montana, becauseof the fact that regular preaching was begun as long ago as1881, when the county-seat was but a very small village andexisted chiefly as a junction on the famous old stage linesmanaged by Gilmer, Salsbury and Co. The overland stagesfrom Salt Lake City here met the coaches from the new andpromising camp of Butte and carried their passengers onto Helena, the capital. Rev. T. N. Todd was then the pastor of the church atWickes and was able to give one Sunday a month to thisplace, but simply as a missionary enterprise, never thinkingthat it was possible that a church should be formed here, solimited wa
