Summary[edit]

Description
English: Corsydd Brynrefail Marshes These wetlands on either side of Afon Rhythallt represent the floor of a lake. After the Ice Age what is now Llyn Padarn extended as far as Pontrhythallt SH5463. Constant attempts have been made to drain the marshes. In the late 1940s German POWs were used to dig drainage ditches. I have memories of these black clad men with big yellow cloth roundels on their backs being marshalled at the end of the day to lorries by armed guards. Both prisoners and guards spoke languages which were equally unintelligable to us monoglot kids. The village on the other side of the valley is Cwm-y-Glo.
