English: Cottongrass, Whorlton Moor Cottongrass is frequently found on peat bogs. The 'cotton' has been used in the past for pillow stuffing, candle wicks and dressing wounds. It is a food supply for black grouse and the large heath butterfly. Although both of these species are rare on the North York Moors. |
