Summary[edit]

Description
English: Croydon: Buses in Morland Road, near to Croydon, Great Britain.

When I first knew the Croydon area, Route 197 ran from Norwood Junction to Caterham Valley, operated by RT buses. It served Morland Road then as now, but managed to pick a route through Croydon avoiding East Croydon station. The present route 197 using DW (Daf-Wright) vehicles, operates Peckham to Croydon Town Centre.

The DW type was introduced in 2003 by Arriva with a batch of 50 buses of which the first 36 went to Croydon Garage and the rest to Carshalton. DW1 to DW36 remain at Croydon and are fully in use. These are low-floor buses which are able to accommodate wheelchair passengers and baby buggies. In this photograph we see DW2. DW12 is behind.
