Summary
[edit]DescriptionCup-marked boulder - geograph.org.uk - 1303322.jpg |
English: Cup-marked boulder. At the time of writing, two cup-marked boulders are known from this gridsquare. The one shown here is described in detail in the Canmore database (see end-note).
This is certainly the flat altar-like rock referred to in Canmore, but visitors should be prepared for the fact that the markings are very faint; see 1303325 (another boulder a few metres downhill from this one has several deep pockmarks on its surface, but it is very rounded and dome-like, not at all flat). By contrast, the other cup-marked boulder recorded in this gridsquare has far more obvious markings: 1303175. In the background, the Rosneath Peninsula is visible. The built-up area visible there, directly behind the boulder, is Clynder. |
