  • Significance: The theatre was built during the major period of expansion of the performing arts in New York, was the second of nine theatres on its block and has remained open and in continuous use as a legitimate theatre until this year. At the time of its construction, Oliver Morosco recognized that a treatre's reputation influences the success of failure of the plays presented in it. An important gauge in evaluating a theatre's ability to represent the essence of New York theatre is association with milestones in the profession...
