English: U.S. Army Sgt. 1st Class Joe Flemion examines the defensive positions of the other members of his convoy after hearing small arms fire during an operation in Quryat Al Islatt, Iraq, on May 29, 2005. Flemion and his fellow soldiers of the 2nd Battalion, 34th Armor are part of an Iraqi Army led mission to find contraband and suspected insurgents in and around the village of Quryat Al Islatt. The mission resulted in the arrest of nine suspected insurgents, confiscation of several weapons from AK-47 machine guns to SA-18 surface to air missiles, and illegally obtained Iraqi Army and police uniforms. |
