Description
English: U.S. Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Merced Mercado from the amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) translates a young patient's symptoms for medical personnel at a temporary facility set up at a sports complex in Bayaguana, Dominican Republic on Oct. 15, 2008. The Kearsarge is the primary platform for the Caribbean phase of Continuing Promise 2008, an equal-partnership humanitarian mission involving the United States, Canada, Netherlands, Brazil, France, Nicaragua, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Trinidad and Tobago, and Guyana.
