English: Ambassador Tina Kaidanow, deputy ambassador to Afghanistan, U.S. Embassy in Kabul, receives an overview of the Detention Facility in Parwan as well as a description of the future construction plans within the facility. Ambassador Kaidanow toured the DFIP and the Justice Center in Parwan, Oct. 9, 2012. The newly appointed deputy ambassador toured the facilities to gain a better understanding of the strategic-level mission performed at the DFIP and JCIP as well as gain a better understanding of the Afghan legal system. The tour was guided by Lt. Gen. Keith Huber, commander, Combined Joint Interagency Task Force 435, Brig. Gen. Ural Glanville, commander, Rule of Law Field Force-Afghanistan, and Col. Robert Taradash, commader, Task Force Protector. CJIATF 435 oversees all detainee operations in Afghanistan. RoLFF-A works to build the capacity of the Afghan Justice sector by partnering with Afghan Rule of Law actors at the Provincial and District levels. Task Force Protector personnel ensure the secure and humane care, custody and control of the detainees within the DFIP. |
