Description
Français : Copie de la dernière lettre du commissaire de police de Vichy résistant Marc Juge écrite en prison le 22 mars 1944, deux jours avant qu'il soit fusillé par les Allemands, à son fils unique Jean-Paul (11 ans). Avec la plaque commémorative juste au dessus, elles se situent sur le mur extérieur de son ancien bureau, au rez-de-chaussée de l'hôtel de ville de Vichy. Les deux plaques ont été inaugurées en janvier 2024.
English: Copy of the last letter written in prison by Marc Juge, a French Resistance fighter and police commissioner of the city of Vichy on March 22, 1944, two days before he was shot by the Germans, to his only son Jean-Paul (aged 11). Both with the commemorative plaque just above, they are located on the outside wall of his former office, on the first floor of Vichy town hall. Both plaques were unveiled in January 2024.

Mon petit Jean-Paul cheri
Voici la dernière lettre que tu recevras
de moi, mon grand chéri, car
dans quelques jours, dans quelques heures
peut-être, je serai fusillé. Tes 11 ans te
permettent de comprendre maintenant
et je ne veux pas partir sans t'affirmer
que tu n'as pas à rougir de ton père
au contraire. J'ai toujours fait ce que
j'ai considéré comme mon devoir sans
m'en laisser distraire par aucune
considération, aussi je meurs la tête
haute sans que ma conscience ne me
reproche rien.
J'espère que dans la vie tu
suivras mon exemple. Sois toujours
loyal et bon. Travaille pour te faire une
situation, travaille deux fois plus mainte-
-nant que je ne suis plus près de toi
pour t'aider et que le mensonge et la
trahison soient pour toi un objet
d'horreur.
N'oublie jamais qu'on ne peut pas
vivre sans l'approbation de sa conscience
