Questo bidentalaveva in giro otto doriche colonnette a sostegno del tìw-his, e nell epistilio portava V iscrizione: □ VT-A3W-QT^naaaT-in 33. Schola et Horologium. Finalmente attiguo alla gra-dinata postica del tempio di Ercole è situato un sedile, informa di emiciclo, che rivolto ad occidente prospetta ilmare ed i monti, i quali da Stabia discendono al capoAtheneo: ivi al disopra del sedile sta un orologio solare,e nel dossale del seggio eravi una lapide, portante scrittii nomi dei duumviri che ne avevano sostenuta la spesa: L • SEPVNIVS • L • F • SANDILIANVSM • HERENNIVS ■ A • F ■ EPIDIANVSD VO VIR I • D • SCOL * ET HOROLDS-PFC REGIONE NONA

Questa che chiamo lultima Regione di Pompei, rin-chiusa fra i due cardini ed i due decumani della città,ha lestensione di circa sessantottomila metri quadrati.Essendone scoverte tre sole isole dal lato di occidente,la medesima non può designarsi con un nome che la di-stingua dalle altre, ma è facile riconoscerne i confiniin quelle vie , che procedendo dalle Porte della città,s* incontrano a croce, quasi nel mezzo dell area circo-scritta dal muro di cinta. J S O L/A f RIMA (1*2 agst.-27 die. 1852 + 23 feb.-ll ag. 1853+ 14 genn., 30 magg., 1 apr. 1851 ±18 giug. 1855 +2. genn. 1866-12 genn., 11 mrz.-2apr. 1867) 1. La prima taberna che si trova nell angolo setten-trionale, non serba alcuna traccia dell uso cui era desti- ISOLA PRIMA 367 nata, ma mostra più fori in una delle pareti pel colloca-mento di qualche armadio , e tiene un passaggio chemena ad uno spazioso dormitorio, sul limitare del qualesta la latrina, sottoposta ad una gradinata con accessodal vico settentrionale ri. 34.
