English: Deserted settlement at An Carn A deserted settlement comprising eight buildings, several enclosures and a corn-drying kiln, situated above an area of lazy bed cultivation. It is thought to have been abandoned in the early 1800s http://canmore.rcahms.gov.uk/en/site/38671/details/jura+an+carn/
The cup-marked rocks within the site and the Bronze Age cairn to the north-east just south of the trig point at Cnoc a Chùirn Mhoir (Hill of the Great Cairn)indicate that this may have been an attractive settlement to different peoples over a long span of time. The road at this end of the island was only built after the First World War and at a distance of 1 mile away to the north-west made subsequent reoccupation of the settlement unlikely.
