English: "This is a picture of the intersection of Broad Street and High Street, around the 1950s, showing the Deshler Hilton Hotel and Gray Drug Store. The Deshler Hotel was built by John G. Deshler in 1916. It had 400 rooms and was considered one of the premier hotels in the midwest. The LeVeque Tower was built in 1927 and was connected to the hotel and provided an additional 600 rooms. The hotel was known as the following over the course it was open: Deshler-Wallick, the Deshler Hilton, the Deshler Cole and the Beasley Deshler. It closed in 1969 and the One Columbus skyscraper was built in it's place" |
