Summary
[edit]DescriptionDesign Museum, Shad Thames - geograph.org.uk - 823243.jpg |
English: Design Museum, Shad Thames. Part of the Butler's Wharf complex. When I visited the main exhibition on the first floor was "Richard Rogers + Architects - from the house to the city" with drawings and models of his buildings and urban planning schemes, some built, some not. The glass box outside the museum housed a large model of a section of London. The second floor had some pictures, and an interesting display of small objects. "Drawn from all over the world, each item tells a story about contemporary culture, the nature of manufacture and marketing and the way we see and use things. These items are not just souvenirs and there are no famous names behind them or manuals required to operate them. These items exist from a human need which is local not global and cost under five pounds." See also 569871 and the Design Museum website http://www.designmuseum.org/ . |
