"Sunday I wish I could write home. There was a big Sea battle last night about 10 miles from here. Guadalcanal was bombed twice today. We can see the canal from where we are but I will be damned if I can see the bombers. This place is getting hot in more ways than one. This night watch is no good, it's too dark." From the James P.
