  • Die Stunde ("The Hour') was an Austrian daily newspaper that ran from February 2, 1923, to March 13, 1938. Imre Békessy served as its publisher, with the editorial office and headquarters located at Canisiusgasse 8–10, 1090 Vienna. The newspaper was printed by the Johann Nepomuk Vernay Printing and Publishing AG, owned by the Kronos Publishing AG.
It was Austria's first tabloid newspaper, introducing a new style in headline formatting, characterized by tumultuous shifts and extensive use of photos and illustrations. Consequently, the newspaper had a low proportion of text, with little politics but abundant gossip. Additionally, it featured a significant amount of advertisements. The concept was successful, making the newspaper one of Vienna's highest-circulation publications, exerting a lasting influence on the local press.
The newspaper is primarily remembered for the fierce confrontations between Karl Kraus and the publisher Imre Békessy, where Kraus accused Békessy of fraud and extortion, among other allegations.
