Description

Nr. 28 der in der Dittwarer Ortschronik beschriebenen Bildstöcke und Denkmäler (siehe: Ortschronik).

Text aus der Ortschronik: "Das große Holzkreuz am Steinbruch über der neuen Volksschule ließ man nach dem zweiten Weltkrieg zum Dank für die Verschonung des Dorfes vor Bombenangriffen aufrichten" (Maninger). Anmerkung: Der Steinbruch und die Volksschule sind mittlerweile nicht mehr in Betrieb. Das Holzkreuz steht heute auf einer Wiese beim Grillplatz "Am Kreuz". Die Wiese neben dem Holzkreuz wird teilweise als Volleyballfeld genutzt.

Holzkreuz auf dem Geißberg. Das Kreuz wurde 1945 nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg zum Dank für die Verschonung des Dorfes vor Angriffen auf Initiative von Pfarrer Schuhmacher angebracht. Es steht oberhalb des Grillplatzes Am Kreuz, an einem ehemaligen Steinbruch oberhalb der damaligen Volksschule (heutige Laurentiushalle). 1977 und im Jahre 2010 wurde das Holzkreuz restauriert.
