English: Donegall Quay, Belfast. Quay in Belfast, it is named after the Donegall family. The hoardings on the left and rising glass-clad structure is the new 'Obel' building https://www.geograph.org.uk/search.php?i=6601308 .
The quay, also the name of the nearby road, was first constructed in stone by the Tomb family (David or Henry Joy depending on which source you read) c1804 and known as Tomb's Quay until c1819; it was enlarged when the nearby docks were infilled c1849 - see also 1335559 and 1333738. |
