Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Dosthill Quarry I don't know when stone was first quarried here, but probably quite a long time ago as the site is geologically unusual for the area, being I believe the remnants of an ancient (extinct millions of years ago) volcano. I think quarrying finished here in the mid 1930s and local streams quite quickly filled it, forming this deep pool - up to (should that be down to ?) 80ft (25m) deep.

It is a popular inland diving site with lunatics - I mean enthusiasts - even diving on the winter's day when I visited ! There are numerous things of interest to explore down there; cars, vans, even apparently a hydroplane as well as the blockhouse presumably belonging to the old mining activities.
