| Description |
English: Dow Hill This derelict farmstead must long predate the age of tractors and landrovers, as there is no sign of a track leading to it, either on the map or on the ground. It is in a bleak position atop a narrow ridge separating the narrow valley of Low Bout from the main valley of the River Lune and on a windy, partly overcast and cold day such as the one on which the photograph was taken, seems a very unwelcoming place to have lived and worked. Across the valley are the large modern units of Scarhead Farm, whilst just visible on the right is the water surface where the River Lune is held back by the dam of Selset reservoir. |
