Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Down the Incline to Beck Hole The 1200m long incline was too steep for horses to haul their carriages between Beck hole and Goathland on the climb over the Moors from Whitby to Pickering. Instead Engineer Stephenson constructed an early funicular railway. Here the 'Rail Trail' heads down the hill towards Beck Hole.
