Notes
  • Significance: The earliest portion of the structure is traditionally believed to have been built in 1695 by William Munroe. Operated as a tavern by the builder's grandson, Sergeant William Munroe of the Lexington Minute Men, it served on April 19, 1775, as the headquarters of General Percy and his British rescue troops. President Washington was entertained here in 1789 during his tour of New England. The tavern is presently owned by the Lexington Historical Society and is open to the public as a museum.
